Ariel Waldman served as the Chair of the External Council for the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program. NIAC nurtures radical, sci-fi-esque ideas that could transform future space missions. The NIAC External Council is a small group of visionaries, from quantum physicists to astronauts, that advise the program. Ariel’s personal mission while at NIAC was to encourage researchers from disciplines outside of space exploration to apply their research and technology towards new space mission capabilities. As part of that, she independently created a simplified guide for how anyone can submit proposals to NIAC.
