Ariel Waldman is an appointed National Academy of Sciences committee member of a congressionally-requested report on the future of human spaceflight. The Committee on Human Spaceflight was tasked to review the long-term direction of the U.S. human spaceflight program and make recommendations how to make it sustainable over several decades. The committee enlisted an incredibly accomplished group of diverse individuals, including a former U.S. Secretary of Defense. The report details how to create a sustainable human spaceflight program out into the 2050’s. The final report that was issued to Congress, the White House and NASA is available for free download: Pathways to Exploration: Rationales and Approaches for a U.S. Program of Human Space Exploration.
